Kogawa Bushido Kai had its first testing of the year on Saturday – 4/28/12. Mr. Van Sant was promoted to Sankyu (3rd -Brown Belt – 4 years training), Mr. Sloan and Mr. McCook were promoted to Gokyu (Blue Belt – 15 months training). Members of the Kyoshinkan were promoted, Mr. Jody Bennet was promoted to 2nd kyu – Brown Belt and Mr. Richard Stephens was promoted to 7th kyu – Orange Belt. The test lasted from 9:30 am to 12 noon with as few breaks as necessary. All their required Kata were reviewed with performing the applications of varied kata.
Mr. Lenny Jordan and Mr. John Rudy were special quests for the Test and both provided insight and information. Mr. Mills, Mr. Roach, Mr. Wallace and I were on the Testing Board
It was a great day. The Kogawa and Kyoshinkan students are progressing well in the art of Karate-do. We look forward to seeing all the students make improvements.
