Practical Martial Orientation
Karate-do is a martial art developed in Okinawa, circa 1600–1800. In the early 1900’s Karate-do migrated to Japan and then to the entire world. Karate-do is a martial art which builds the mind, body, and spirit and helps protect one’s family and society.
Some Karate-do focus on competition and sport application and not effective application of technique. Kogawa Budo chooses to focus specifically on the martial strategies of traditional Karate-do with real world application.
Efficient and Effective Use of Body Mechanics
Knowledge passed down from teacher to student for over three hundred years combined with modern knowledge of the muscular-skeletal system allows Kogawa Bushido Kai to practice technique that supports the most efficient and effective use of the entire structure of the body.
Traditional Holistic Martial Training
Kogawa Bushido Kai maintains the three traditional components of training: Kata (pre-arranged martial movements passed down for centuries); Kumite (effective sparring); and Heiho (martial strategy of the mind, body, and spirit).
Traditional Training Atmosphere
A traditional training atmosphere emphasizes the respect of society, one’s Ryu-ha (style), one’s Sensei (teacher), one’s peers, and one’s Do-jo (training facility).
Maintaining a Healthy Mind, Body, and Spirit
Training with Kogawa Bushido Kai enhances your overall health and uses training methods which reduce negative impact on the body. Training in this style helps maintain a balance of the muscular-skeletal system supporting training throughout all stages of life, supporting one’s mind through learning, developing one’s body through exercise, and developing one’s spirit through building a strong connection between the mind and body.
